The Redemptive End

Ippocalyptica Had I listened to this album without knowing that Groza made it, I would have thought that it had been a surprise drop by Mgla. Unlike a lot of reviewers on other sites who dismiss Groza’s work simply due to the strong Mgla influence, though, I really admire what I hear on The Redemptive End, which is a dramatic improvement in every respect over Unified in Void. This is simply strong melodic black metal that is somewhat more upbeat than Mgla, from a band that is finding its unique voice. Favorite track: Homewards.

YomaBarr Hehe, remember last year's Worsen? Filter it through quality German melodic BM and you'll get what Groza sounds like when they shake off their overwhelming Mgła influence and take a step beyond.

Original? No. Listenable? Very. I really like this album.

Carlos Parlos (cp49) I really love this album. It's hard to avoid a reference to their primary influence (easily inferred by the band name) but this album does more than copy a certain Polish band's style, it inhabits that style of black metal and makes it their own. The previous heir to the sound, Gaerea, are on notice to step up their game because this is the best album in this style in quite some time. Great lyrics, atmosphere, riffs, drums, and vocals. Killer from start to finish. Favorite track: Elegance Of Irony.

David Fischer First things first: yes, these guys like Mgła and wear their influence on their sleeves. But who doesn't enjoy some high-ass quality melodic black metal? That's right, we all do! So get over it. The Redemptive End is a really solid offering standing for itself, filled to the brim with intense and oftentimes emotional vocals and a fine Polish instrumental kit - just the way I enjoy my BM the most. Also, the cover art is impeccable. A very appealing release all around, one of my top 2021 releases! Favorite track: The Redemptive End.

tgoz Sounds like Mgła but you're not financing NSBM.

Endless march down the dead end On broken glass, every broken mirror A shattered self, empty – hollow And the remains are trampled to dust and beyond Through smouldering fields swept off the joyful laughter Everything burned and erased Peace has turned into eternal slaughter As the past descends into the waves Vaults filled with your dreams of blood and iron Caged fears and lusts, painfully oppressed The pulse of Hades, the Odem of Thanatos Gentle breeze, forging oceans of souls Stripped of mortal flesh Stripped of sins and guilt Stripped of sense and mind Sunken in Styx No matter the heroic acts, nor the vile betrayal Kings and beggars, sinners and saints The crooked lines meet where emperors serve and slaves reign There’s no dignity in burial grounds But decay, rot, worms and shit At least there is use in your end As there was none in your fucking life Into the heavens ascend To the hollow realms of hypocrites Wander the ruins In search for blessings obsolete Into the darkness descend To the obsidian planes of Erebos Wander the ruins Become lost and buried by aeons

Come forth! Gleam in the east Dusk of a new day Appear and enlighten Uncover every blemish As rats chew on the cadaver of aeons As monuments wither beyond recognition Under the march of modern slavery Ground to dust, scattered in the winds The elegance of irony A sight to behold Hopefully, it enlightens other worlds Between light and dark Between recognition and obscurity Between oblivion and repression Certainty is lurking, waiting No hymns of praise will sound The yoke of silence will fall No light will come from the sun Bones to ashes, souls to dust Bring forth a son, his name be war His body be steel, his words falling bombs Bring forth a daughter, her name be famine Her gaze be drought, her touch spoiled harvest Bring forth a bastard, his name be pestilence His breath be plague, his semen be poison Bring forth the last child His name be carved in tombstones And his will be done

I see a pale moon rise into the nightly sky pure rays breaking through thick fog embrace my tired eyes I will awake the blood This lunar sighting sends a shiver down my spine I will cleanse this world as moon and earth align When I finally turn on my own Blood moon – shining in the sky Blood moon – wolves howling in disguise Blood moon – shining in the sky Blood moon And as the pale moon shines over numbed heads Determinedly trotting forward, straight into collapse I will awake the blood This lunar sighting sends a shiver down my spine I will cleanse this world as moon and earth align When I finally turn on my own Blood moon – shining in the sky Blood moon – wolves howling in disguise Blood moon – shining in the sky Blood moon Through eternal night Through eternal dark Its glooming guides the way Through eternal sorrow To everlasting void Guide us to the redemptive end

Nil 07:31
The sick mare drags itself ashore From the depths of the abyss Bloated, disgusting, weak and defiled The crippled and sickened legs Cannot bear the dead weight Cannot pull the chariot No more The corpse of Patroclus rots in bright daylight Flies and maggots do their work And the shining Achilles has left long ago Betrayed his people, his friend, himself Dices are rolling And every side is Nil Equal to the sum of chances Equal to the worth of mankind We are left with grandiose dreams Of peace, wealth, accordance and progression Relentless regression to zero and beyond Embrace the nothingness! Embrace the nightmare! We built shiny castles in the miasmic air Illusions, and nothing but hollow For all feelings, emerging from within Are blind hatred, cold wrath and burning envy From blade to bullet to bomb Thus are the ambassadors of extinction Thus are the children of men Nuke the fucking world off Atlas Shoulders And behold the fall Dices are rolling And every side is Nil Equal to the sum of chances Equal to the worth of mankind Dices are rolling And every side is Nil Equal to the sum of chances Equal to the remains of Dignity, holiness, humanness, benevolence, pureness, honesty, mercy and grace Dignity, holiness, humanness, benevolence, pureness, honesty, mercy and grace Dices are rolling And every side is Nil Equal to the sum of chances Equal to the worth of mankind

Homewards 10:46
Photon fingers ransacking the skies In search for every last angel To cripple and dispossess Pillage and burn the forefather’s crypts In search for forgotten values Our worlds were built upon And the collapse is imminent Behold! Beware! Embrace! A glimpse, a glimmer, a chance, a shot at dignity Your personal zero vector perpendicular to life, true to death Fuck this life, fuck this world Bottoms up – down your cup of Hemlock Get shitfaced the Socretean way Ride Boreas! Dance on Phobos! End this life, end this world Gaia, welcome thy apostate child And as the last rays of dusk decease So does the flame within Nothing but my own sundown Nothing but another life down And yet the sun will rise again To scorch everything that’s left behind And only eternal night can Set you free Walk into the sea – quench the eternal thirst Walk into the fire – stop the numbing cold Walk towards the final salvation At last, homewards
