I love most of the bands that came out of this particular scene, and Heretoir is a particular favorite. There are great slow, mournful passages here, ambient moments with muted pianos, some blastbeats-and-bellowing sections that are still more morose than aggressive, and even some epic clean singing, all in service to a unifying concept album about the conflict between wilderness and machine.

Crushing blackened doom from this German band that counterbalances blinding fury with moments of surprising, melancholy melody. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 8, 2023
The eight tracks on the latest from German black metal band pummel and hiss, working occasional atmospheric moments into the din. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 12, 2022
I’ve owned the Imperfect disc for a bit now, but had slept on the rest of the material, with the exception of Disquiet, until now. Much different than my normal dissonant, occult sound fare, but everything Unrequited creates is bursting at the seams with power and emotion. Respect and support. Slug.
